Communicable Disease  

Provides immunizations to all ages. Investigation and report of a communicable disease.  Tuberculosis screening and follow-up.  Consultations to medical personnel and public.

 

Chronic Disease

Provides free blood pressure checks and follow-up at the health department, outreach clinics, and special clinics throughout the county.  Provides cholesterol and diabetes screening and referrals.  Provides nursing consultations for health education and support.

 

WIC Program

Provides nutrition education, counseling and administration of WIC coupons to eligible pregnant or nursing women, postpartum mothers, infants, and children under five.

 

Healthy Moms/Healthy Kids

Promoting healthy pregnancies and healthy children through education, advocacy and referral.  High risk follow-up (APORS) tracking for infant referrals from the neonatal intensive care units. 1-800-543-8388.

 

Adverse Pregnancy Outreach Reporting System(APORS)

APORS was developed to reduce adverse pregnancy outcomes, infant mortality and developmental disabilities.  The hospitals providing maternity and newborn care report deliveries which result in congenital anomalies, life-threatening illness, birth weight less than 1501 grams (3 lbs. 4 3/4 oz.), fetal death and neonatal death.  Doctors may also report high risk patients.

Family Planning

Provides Abstinence/Contraceptive and Women's Health Counseling, Pregnancy Testing And Clinics For Gynecological Exam And Contraceptive Care.  A Variety Of Contraceptive Methods Are Also Made Available To Program Participants.

 

STD Program

Counseling clients, referring them to a physician or clinics, and providing necessary medications with a physician's prescription.

 

Prenatal Program

Provides low cost prenatal care to families in Mason County.  Care is provided by physicians from the university of Illinois family practice residency program, at Methodist hospital in Peoria.

 

Well Baby Program

Well baby clinic twice per month for well child check-ups up to age 3 years provides any needed immunizations lead screenings, hemoglobin's, health education resources, referrals and consultations for problems.
