Who Can Get WIC?

You may qualify if you meet all three of the following:

1) Category – You must be one of the following:

  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding (up to one year after giving birth)
  • A new mother (up to six months after giving birth)
  • A parent, guardian, or caretaker of an infant or child under 5
  • Foster children automatically qualify

2) Income – Your household income must be within WIC guidelines. Many families qualify even if they work. Medicaid, SNAP, or TANF recipients automatically meet income requirements.

3) Nutritional Risk – WIC staff will complete a free health screening to determine if you or your child have a nutritional need. This can include factors like low iron, growth concerns, or diet quality. If you receive Medicaid, you already meet this criteria.
