Protecting your health matters — and knowing your status is an important step. The Mason County Health Department provides confidential testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, and hepatitis C.
Who Should Get Tested?
– anyone under 26 years old who is sexually active
– females with vaginal discharge, pelvic pain or sores, or unexplained rash
– males with penile discharge, burning with urination, pelvic sores, or unexplained rash
– men who have sex with men
– sex partner of an individual diagnosed with an STI
– anyone with a new partner in the past 3 months
– anyone with more than 1 partner in the past 3 months
– anyone with a history of an STI in the past 3 years
– anyone diagnosed with gonorrhea or chlamydia (should be rescreened at 3 months to detect possible reinfection)
Insurance & Payment:
We will bill Medicaid and private insurance when possible. Our staff can help you apply for Family Planning coverage through the State of Illinois if you are uninsured. Payment is required for self-pay clients.
All testing is confidential, but you do need to bring a photo ID to your appointment. Appointments are required – call us to schedule.
In Illinois, anyone 12 years or older can receive STI testing and treatment without parental consent.
